Fun day & dog show delights Walford residents

walford village hall fun day and dog show

A BLEND of warm summer sunshine and a packed programme of events formed the perfect backdrop for Walford Village Hall’s fun day which attracted hundreds of families.

The popular annual event, at the hall near Ross-on-Wye, saw visitors enjoy a fantastic dog show which attracted dozens of entrants and a wonderful Disney-themed fancy dress competition.

Traditional games including splat the rat, hook-a-duck, egg and spoon race and sack race delighted families who also made use of the play area on site which was popular with the children.

Face painting, a wide variety of stalls ranging from the Royal British Legion to hand-made jewellery, crochet, crafts, tarot reading, Pokemon cards, frames and Pokemon art, jams and jellies and sweet treats to name but a few.

Anthony Jones, Walford Village Hall Trustee, said: “We were thrilled to welcome so many people to this year’s fun day. It was great to see so many people having fun in the late summer sunshine.

“Our hall is at the heart of the community and is used by a wide variety of community groups and for other functions including parties.

“We’ve just completed the re-decoration of the kitchen and the toilets have benefited from an improvement programme in addition to the hall being re-painted.

“All the proceeds from this event go to the upkeep of the hall to ensure it continues to provide a vital service to the community.”
