A DOG show, a Pirate and Princesses fancy dress contest, games and a packed schedule of family entertainment awaits at Walford Village Hall on Monday, August 28, for a big summer family fun day which promises to be the best yet.

Excitement is building for the popular annual event, helping to raise funds for Walford Village Hall, which is building on the success of last year’s event which saw hundreds turn out to enjoy the fun.

This year, the event will stage the Pirate and Princesses fancy dress contest, which is sure to be a big hit with families.

A packed programme of entertainment is also promised with the renowned Ross-on-Wye-based band the Indiecators. www.theindiecators.com

The ever-popular dog show returns, boasting ten different classes ranging from the best fancy-dressed dog and the waggiest tail to the best sausage catcher and king of the show.

The event, at Walford Village Hall, near Ross-on-Wye, promises to be a day of fun in the sun for families with a range of traditional children’s games including splat the rat, hook-a-duck and sack races.

Organisers are also working in collaboration with Bishopswood village hall who hold their annual duck race after the fun day at 4pm with a bar, barbecue and music. Barbecue and duck tickets will be available at the Walford Village Hall fun day.

At the Walford fun day, visitors can also visit a range of stalls with tombolas, lucky dips, sweets, traybakes, crochet and hand-made gifts in addition to treats to tempt the tastebuds from a range of food and drink stalls with pizza, burgers, hot dogs and Thai food.

Anthony Jones, Walford Village Hall Trustee, said: “Last year’s event was an amazing success. So many people turned out in the sunshine to support us. They had a great time and this year, it looks to be our best yet with a wide variety of outlets with delicious food and drink, many stalls, our very popular dog show. We’d like to thank all those stall-holders for their support.

Summer Reset Yin and Yang Workshop

Yoga Workshop Ross on Wye

Sunday 25th June 5 – 8.30pm

www.energyogawithhelen.com to book

Yoga returns to Walford with another Yin and Yang workshop, intended to be a relaxing summer reset. Hopefully it will still be lovely and warm, and as this should be an evening one, the pace and intensity of the vinyasa flow will not be as taxing as the last one. The focus will be absolutely relaxation.

Over 3.5 hours, we shall practise:

· Gentle vinyasa flow 🧘‍♀️

· Shavasana massage 💆‍♂️💆‍♀️

· Relaxing yin yoga 🧘‍♂️

· Guided meditation ☯️

All complemented by Yogi tea and vegan cake halfway through.

The vinyasa flow will be for all levels, with modifications always offered.

The yin yoga will be really accessible, super calm, and the perfect preamble to winding down for the guided meditation.

After the dynamic practice preceding it, the yin will feel like the perfect balance of energy and leave you floating into the meditation where the aim is to just LET GO! If you fall asleep, you will not be alone!
